ANRF initiates PM Early Career Research Grant and EV Mission

The Government of India established Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under ANRF Act 2023 to provide high-level strategic directions for research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the fields of natural sciences, including mathematical sciences, engineering and technology, environmental and earth sciences, health and agriculture, and scientific and technological interfaces of humanities and social sciences.

Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PM ECRG)

In a significant step to empower early researchers, ANRF initiated Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant to support early career researchers in their pursuit of research excellence, providing them with enabling environment to effectively conduct research with ease and flexibility. The ANRF envisions providing 700 grants every year with up to Rs. 60 lakh of fund in a single project. The researchers who have a PhD/MD/MS/MDS/MVSc Degree and working in recognized institutions are eligible to apply. The upper age limit for the applicants is 42 years with 3 years relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Differently Abled & Women candidates.

Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA) : EV-Mission

In another initiative, ANRF has launched its 1st EV Mission under its Mission for Advancement in High Impact Areas (MAHA) Scheme. The key objective of EV Mission is to enhance indigenous R&D capabilities on EV components to achieve self-reliance and global competitiveness. Three key verticals under EV Mission are – Tropical EV Batteries & Battery Cells; Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD); and EV Charging Infrastructure. Researchers working on full-time regular basis in recognized academic institutions are eligible to apply. The initiative mandates the participation of Industry/PSUs/Startups in the Projects.
